The Bridgespan Group
You're passionate about making a difference. Not just in the business world, but also in the world around you. So is Bain.
Incubated at Bain & Company and incorporated as an independent nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization, the Bridgespan Group's mission is to build a better world by strengthening the ability of nonprofit organizations and philanthropy to achieve breakthrough results in addressing society's most important challenges and opportunities. Bridgespan began its first strategy consulting engagements in 2000 and soon followed with additional services for nonprofit organizations. In addition to management consulting, Bridgespan offers executive search services and philanthropy advising. The firm also provides leadership development content and services through its Bridgestar initiative. In support of its mission Bridgespan is dedicated to the creation and dissemination of knowledge developed on each client case.
Fact-based, data-driven analysis and interactive, values-driven discussions are at the heart of Bridgespan’s work. Their strategy consulting engagements with nonprofits involve strategic and organizational issues ranging from questions of focus and growth, to effective performance measurement, the challenge of balancing mission and economic sustainability, and the use of technology for social change.
The full backing of Bain
Bridgespan and Bain & Company are separate, independent organizations with no legal affiliation; however, the close relationship between the two has been a key factor in Bridgespan’s history and development. In addition to having incubated Bridgespan and committing more than $2 million in seed capital and other grants–plus essential infrastructure support–we offer Bridgespan employees access to our intellectual capital and thought leaders, including senior management team members serving on the Bridgespan board of directors. In turn, Bridgespan hosts Bain consultants for 6- to 12-month externships at each of its three offices located in Boston, New York, and San Francisco.
During an externship with Bridgespan, you can focus your consulting skills on issues of great social importance. This ongoing relationship with Bain & Company and the Bridgespan Group provides continued access for both organizations to some of the world’s best thinking and practices related to strategy and organizational effectiveness.
