Why Bain?
For me it was all about the people and culture at Bain. Everyday I interact with inspiring people, who want me to succeed. Having worked as a Doctor before joining Bain I was naturally apprehensive about learning the core tools needed to be a management consultant- however, Bain has an unbelievable focus on training, professional development and feedback so you can really see yourself develop within a short space of time.

My passion
I have a real passion for pro-bono work, and Bain has so many avenues to explore this. I recently worked on a project for a UK venture philanthropy fund to determine if they add value to charities they invest in. This was a fantastic experience and I got a lot of personal satisfaction from this. During the final presentation, I was able to personally present the findings to the executive committee- which aim to help the fund focus on critical areas as they grow over the next few years.

My favorite case
I was part of a pan-European case team supporting the integration of two large drinks manufacturers. I worked specifically on integrating the UK businesses, thinking about when, where and how much synergy would be realised from the deal. The case was an amazing experience- we collaborated closely with the client to support them through the integration, and to successfully merge the two companies in a tight deadline.
The key to success was getting the client engaged and thinking about the right issues early on. I learned so much about how to interact and work closely with clients, so that the impact and results are as much part of their success story as ours. -
My personal results story
I have been involved with teaching kids at a primary school about business basics- this was personally a very satisfying experience- it is really inspiring to teach enthusiastic children about how to make businesses grow and succeed.
Through Bain I have coached asylum seekers about how to apply for jobs and critiquing their CVs- the willingness to learn and take on feedback was phenomenal, and hopefully this is going to benefit them in the future.

A final thought
The biggest surprise for me at Bain is the variety of problems and issues we tackle on a day to day basis- nothing is the same, and I am continually being stretched to become better and reach my full potential. It is a great feeling!
My biggest tip for the interview is to make sure you have prepared thoroughly- brush up on math, and practice cases with friends and family. Everyone is nervous but try to keep calm, clearly explain your thinking process and enjoy the experience.
