  • Why Bain?

I choose Bain because of the people I met during the recruiting process and the type of work that Bain does. Throughout the recruiting process, I was duly impressed by the intelligence of the Bainies, the excitement that they had for their work, the camaraderie they exhibited, and the interest they took in me. Also, in large part, I was drawn to Bain because of the private equity group (PEG). Having been an investment banker prior to business school, I was excited by the fast paced, transactional nature of the work, and the opportunity PEG afforded to build a consulting skill-set, and to learn about a number of industries, in a short period of time.

  • My passion

Outside of the office, I am excited about traveling whether it is international adventures, or exploring closer to home. In the last three years, I have been fortunate enough to travel to India, China, Thailand, Croatia, England, Sweden, The British Virgin Islands, and Mexico. Later this month, traveling to Scotland for the first time. Closer to home, I enjoy running and biking around Boston, hiking in New Hampshire, and swimming in the cold waters of Atlantic.

  • My favorite case

My first PEG case was both my favorite and my most exciting case experience. I was responsible for evaluating the potential for a new medical device technology. After two weeks of an exhaustive search of both secondary and primary research, I was amazed at how much I learned, and how quickly I formed a perspective on the product's prospects.

  • A final thought

When I was recruiting, Bain often stressed the importance the firm places on personal professional development. Having been at Bain for a little over a year now, I have been amazed by Bain's level of dedication to develop its employees. I have been continually challenged to take on more and more complex work, and have been provided with continuous formal and informal actionable feedback. This is a great place to be when you are done with school, but not done with learning.
